Widow raped in Odisha, man held

Bhubaneswar May 2 (IANS) A 37-year-old widow was raped in Odisha s Nayagarh district following which a young man was arrested police said on Wednesday.

Accused Lipuna Das 25 entered the woman s house in his village in Ranpur police area when she was alone on Tuesday evening and committed the crime police said.

"The woman filed a complaint that he also threatened to kill her if she disclosed the crime to anyone " Ranpur Inspector Girija Shankar Rath said.

He said that a medical examination of both was done on Wednesday.

In another case a minor girl of Jharigaon block in Nabarangpur committed suicide on Wednesday after a video clipping featuring her and a youth went viral on the social media.

Her father lodged a complaint with Jharigaon police which began a probe.
