Newborn s body found dumped in garbage

Kolkata June 1 (IANS) The body of a newborn kid was recovered from a garbage vat here on Friday morning police said.
"Body of a newborn boy was found dumped in a garbage vat beside the Dhakuria bus stand (in south Kolkata) at around 6 a.m. The corpse has been sent for an autopsy " said an officer from Lake police station.
According to locals the body was first noticed by the local shopkeepers and pedestrians who informed police.
"We haven t received reports of any newborn baby going missing from this locality in the last few days. It seems the body was dumped in the garbage vat last night " the officer added.
