Arms dealer arrested in Kolkata, illegal firearm seized

Kolkata June 4 (IANS) An arms dealer was arrested here and an improvised firearm and ammunitions seized from him police said on Monday.
Acting on a tip off about arms smuggling a team of Kolkata police had kept strong vigil in an and around north Kolkata s Abinash Kabiraj street and arrested the arms dealer identified as Amit Choudhury from Burtolla area on Saturday afternoon police said.
"Amit Choudhury 32 a notorious arms dealer from Kolkata s Picnic Garden area was arrested with an improvised single shot fire arm and one cartridge which he had brought for illegal selling " the officer said.
He said the buyers of the illegal arms fled from the spot sensing trouble.
"The accused has been remanded to 15 days police custody " the officer added.
