Gunfight starts in Kashmir
Srinagar July 22 (IANS) A gunfight started on Sunday between a group of militants and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir s Kulgam district.
Police said security forces acting on specific information launched a cordon and search operation in Khudwani village of south Kashmir.
"As the cordon was tightened hiding militants opened fire triggering an encounter " police said.
Authorities have suspended mobile Internet services in Kulgam and Anantnag districts as a precautionary measure.
In the same district militants abducted and killed a trainee police constable Muhammad Saleem Shah on Saturday.
The trainee had come home on leave from Kathua Police Training School.
