Mamata slams Modi Government over 40 lakh missing names in Assam NRC List

July 30 (WTN) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attacked on Modi government over final draft of the National Register of Citizen (NRC) issued in Assam, for missing names of 40 lakh people. He questioned and claims that list lacks of neutrality in preparing the list where some community and language special people are being targeted forcibly. Mamta said that 40 lakh people missing their names on draft list have no place to stay either in India or in Bangladesh.
 
Mamta also said that person having 'Aadhar card and passport, but names of people in the list are missing. He blames Union Government for intentionally removing names from the list on the basis of their surname. She questioned that, is the government willing to forcibly remove people from the country? Mamta appeals to Home Minister that issue is very sensitive and government should not do politics on that.


It is remarkable that the last draft of National Citizen Register (NRC) in Assam released on Monday with 2.8 million names, but the names of 40 lakh people have not been included in it. In the final draft, 2,89,84,677 out of a total of 3,29,91,384 applicants have been included but 40,07,707 applicants names missing.

Addressing a press conference after releasing the final draft of NRC, India's Registrar General Shailesh said, this draft will is a milestone in the form of the publication and final draft of the NRC will be a historic moment for all of us. He emphasized that final draft of entire NRC will be published after the settlement of all claims and objections.
