Subramanian Swamy’s tweet annoyed Maldives, summoned Indian high commissioner

Earlier Swamy suggested over tweet that India should invade Maldives if rigging of election takes place

A tweet from BJP Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy, who has always been in the limelight from his statements, has made a furore from India to Maldives. Subramaniam Swamy said that if there is any rigging in the next general elections of the neighboring country Maldives, then India should attack this country. The Ministry of External Affairs has separated itself from this statement by declaring Swami as private. The Maldives has flared up with this statement. Maldives Foreign Secretary Ahmed Sarir summoned Indian High Commissioner Akhilesh Mishra this Sunday.


After this tweet, not only the Maldivian Government but also people of Maldives got angry against him. The Government of Maldives also complained Swamy to Government of India to about this tweet, after which Central Government clearly replied that this tweet is Swamy’s personal opinion and Govt cannot stop anyone from saying anything.


At the same time, the people of Maldives responded on the tweet and said that you see the problems of your country. We will not give any chance to attack anyone over our country’s issues. We will fight till the last breath and we do not need your help.
