Congress president Rahul Gandhi has claimed that Finance Minister Arun Jaitley met fugitive Vijay Mallya at the Central Hall of Parliament and his statement over non meeting is completely false. H e also claimed that In this meeting, Mallya told Jaitley that he is about to go to London. But Jaitley instead of informing the investigating agencies let him go. He questions that Did Jaitley escape an economic criminal from the country or did he get orders from the prime minister? He also said that Jaitley’s should resign.
This whole political drama was triggred by fugutive Vjay Mallya during a trial was held on Wednesday in the extradition case against Mallya in the London court. Mallya had told the media outside the court that he had met the finance minister before going to London and told him about his settlement offer with banks. Immediately after Mallya's claims, Jaitley had said that Mallya had never given any appointment since 2014. Mallya had not met him personally but he had just taken up with him in the corridor of the Parliament.
Given Vijay Mallya’s extremely serious allegations in London today, the PM should immediately order an independent probe into the matter. Arun Jaitley should step down as FInance Minister while this probe is underway.
