ACB arrests DJB Magistrate s staffer in bribery case

New Delhi Sep 14 (IANS) The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on Friday arrested a Reader of a Special Metropolitan Magistrate of the Delhi Jal Board on the charge of accepting a bribe of Rs 5 000 for settling a challan case in south Delhi an officer said.
"Accused Rajender Kumar Gautam 52 of Lajpat Nagar was arrested by an ACB team for taking Rs 5 000 from the complainant who had came to deposit the challan in Special Metropolitan Magistrate s court at Lajpat Nagar " Deputy Commissioner of Police (ACB) Amit Roy told IANS.
"A resident of Najafgarh the complainant told the ACB that Gautam was demanding a bribe for reducing the challan amount " Roy said.
"Gautam initially demanded more money for the challan and then demanded a bribe to reduce it. The challan receipt was issued for Rs 1 000 " the officer added.
