Congress will be ousted from power in Mizoram: NPP leader

Shillong Sep 19 (IANS) Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister and National People s Party (NPP) leader Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday voiced confidence that ruling Congress will be ousted from power in Mizoram in the upcoming Assembly elections.
"As of now Mizoram is the only state ruled by the Congress. I was there for a very short time but I could see Congress will be out of power in the upcoming elections. It is not necessary to finish the Congress off because they did so by themselves. I think they (Congress) will do the same thing in Mizoram so they should not blame us or anybody. They have to blame themselves " he told reporters.
Tynsong who visited poll-bound Mizoram last week had met several non-Congress political leaders including former Mizoram Home Minister R. Lalzirliana to impress upon them the need to work together after the Mizoram Assembly elections.
The 40-member Mizoram Legislative Assembly which was constituted on December 16 2013 will expire on December 15 this year.
"The talk is on and I cannot divulge so much. Let us see from now. I met few Congress MLAs in Mizoram. I also met the MNF chief Zoramthanga and we sat down and discussed about the upcoming elections " the NPP leader said.
"Let us see the mandate of the people because we do not know yet which party will get majority or emerge as the single largest party after the Assembly polls. Post-poll alliance is inevitable in case if there is any hung Assembly. It has to be there otherwise nobody will be able to form the government " he added.
