Cyclone ‘Daye’ hits Odisha, alert of heavy rains in many states

Cyclone 'Daye' hits Odisha and on Friday morning, the storm crossed the sea coast near Gopalpur, heavy rainfall in several coastal parts with strong winds. The Meteorological Department has issued heavy rain warnings with strong winds in many parts of Odisha and northern Andhra Pradesh. Also, for the next 24 hours, fishermen have been advised not to go on the beaches.

HR Biswas, director of the Meteorological Center located at Bhubneshwar said that the area of deep pressure of the air is increasing at a speed of 23 kmph and it is expected to become a cyclonic storm in the next 12 hours. According to him, the area of low pressure on the Bay of Bengal has become deeper, due to which heavy rainfall occurred in many districts.
There have been heavy rains in some places of Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Raigad, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri and Navrangapur districts by cyclonic storm. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains are possible in many places in the places of Raigarh, Kalahandi, Koraput and Navarangapur districts by Saturday. For the next few hours, there has been a warning of storms coming at 60-70 kilometers per hour on the southern Odisha coast.
Official sources said that the state government has instructed officers of coastal districts and several departments to remain alert to deal with any situation. Earlier, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik held a meeting and directed the officials to take a closer look at the situation and take steps to ensure that there were no casualties. He also instructed to keep adequate relief material ready.
