PM Modi receives 'Champions of the Earth ' Award

The United Nations today awarded the 'Champions of Earth Award' to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking historic steps in the field of environment. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Gutarez gave the award to PM Modi. Apart from Modi, French President Emmanuel Macroon was also honored with this award for policy leadership category.

Addressing the program after getting the 'Champions of Finance Award', Modi said that this is honor of India. I am grateful for this award. He said that this award is a tribute to tribals, farmers and fishermen of India. He said that India always sees nature as a mother and the woman is a form of nature. This honor is also the woman of India who takes care of plants. He said that we need support to connect the population with the opportunities of development without putting extra emphasis on the environment and nature.
UN General Assembly on September 26 had announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the French President Emanuel Macro will be given the Champions of Earth award in the Policy Leadership category. This is the United Nations highest environmental award.
