Govt. reduces petrol and diesel Prices by Rs. 2.50

To control the rocket prices of petrol and diesel, Government has given great relief today to reduce the ill effects of the country's economy and to relieve the common man from inflation. Finance Minister Jaitley today said that excise duty on petrol and diesel will be cut by Rs 2.50 per liter. At present, the Central Government takes excise duty on petrol at Rs 19.48 per liter whereas excise duty on diesel is Rs 15.33 per liter.

Jaitley said, "In the interim meeting today, we decided that the Revenue Department will be divided into 3 parts to provide relief to the consumers. Excise duty will decrease by Rs 1.5. Oil marketing company (OMC) will deduct one rupee. On behalf of the Central Government, we will provide relief to consumers at Rs. 2.5 per liter immediately. Jaitley also said that the price of crude oil is above $ 86. Oil companies will raise money from foreign bonds. He said the impact of the American market on the Indian market is visible.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley met Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday evening to stop the adverse impact of the government on the economy worried by the rising prices of petrol and diesel. Petrol and diesel prices have been increased by 15 paise and 20 paise per liter respectively on Thursday. After this increase, petrol in Delhi has now reached Rs 84 per liter and diesel at Rs 75.45 per liter.
