Anti drug-activist s murder probe: 2 more cops suspended for negligence

New Delhi Oct 6 (IANS) Two Delhi policemen accused of negligence during the investigation into an anti-drug activist s murder case here were suspended on Saturday taking the total number of suspensions in the police department in the case to five.
"Based on the findings of a vigilance inquiry into the alleged lapses and negligence by the local police in the murder of Rupesh New Friends Colony s Station house officer (SHO) Sushil Kumar and Division Officer Rajender are placed under suspension for misconduct and negligence in duty " Deputy Commissioner of Police Chinmoy Biswal said in a statement on Saturday.
Rupesh who had been fighting drug smugglers and local criminals in south Delhi s Taimoor Nagar was gunned down by two suspected smugglers who came to buy drugs near his residence on Sunday night around 9 p.m.
Earlier beat officers Ajay Surender and Hari Chand were placed under suspension on similar grounds.
"A regular departmental inquiry has been initiated against all of them " said Biswal.
