DGCA suspended Air India Operation Chief’s license for 3 years

Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has suspended the license of Air India flight director Arvind Kathpalia for three years. Kathpalia had been found alcoholic in the check before flying duty on Sunday then Air India shifted him from the flight duty. An official said that his license was suspended for three years after the traces of alcohol found during breath testing when he was about to join his routine duty.
Under the rules 24 of DGCA, no crew member can drink alcohol till 12 hours before the flight. Before their flight, their alcohol consumption check is necessary. For the first time the license for aircraft operations can be granted for three months. The second time there is a provision for suspension for three years. The license can be canceled forever for the third time. DGCA had earlier suspended the license of Kathpalia in 2017 for three months. At that time, he had escaped himself from alcohol check before a flight. At that time he was shifted from the post of Executive Director (Operations).
