National Herald Case hearing in Supreme Court today

The Supreme Court will hear on the plea of ​​Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, in which they challenged Delhi High Court order to refuse to give relief to the case of re-opening a case of tax assessment of 2011-12.

The bench of Justice AK Sikri and Justice S Abdul Nazir will hear the plea of ​​Rahul, Sonia and senior Congress leader Oscar Fernandes. In their petitions, they challenged the order of the High Court on September 10. The Income Tax Department has already filed a caveat in the apex court that if a petition is filed against the order of the High Court, then IT department favor will also be heard in such a situation.
 
Significantly, on September 10, Rahul and Sonia did not get any relief from the High Court as court was rejected petition challenging the re-opening of a case of 2011-12 tax assessment. It paved the way for the investigation of the tax records of the Congress leaders' of assessment year 2011-12 to the Income Tax Department.
 
The issue of income tax investigation against Congress leaders was raised by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy in connection with the investigation of a private criminal complaint filed in the lower court in connection with the National Herald case. In this case Rahul, Sonia and Fernandes are on bail. Sonia and Rahul were granted bail on December 19, 2015 by the lower court.
