Large-scale transfer of prison officials in UP

Lucknow, Nov 28 (IANS) Days after reports emerged about videos being shot inside prisons showing luxuries inside the confines of the jail, the state government on Wednesday rejigged the jail department, transferring a dozen officials, sources said.The transferred officials include four jailers and a deputy jailer. The jailers of Lucknow, Bahraich, Moradabad and Kannauj have been shifted.Criminals lodged in the Rae Bareli jail barracks were videographed drinking alcohol and keeping banned items. The BJP government had suspended six prison officials earlier this week.Prison officials of Fatehgarh, Baghpat, Mainpuri, Faizabad, Ambedkarnagar and Gautambuddhnagar have also been shifted.
