Temperatures drop in Himachal

Shimla : Temperatures across Himachal Pradesh dipped on Saturday with high-altitude areas still getting mild spells of snow while other parts were experiencing rain.

"High hills in Kullu, Kinnaur, Lahaul and Spiti, Shimla and Chamba districts have experienced light snowfall and this will continue till Sunday," a weather department official told IANS.

There has been no snowfall in Shimla and its nearby areas like Kufri and Narkanda since Friday.

In Manali, temperatures dipped to a low of minus 4 degrees Celsius. The Rohtang Pass, just 52 km from Manali, had snowfall.

The minimum temperature in the state capital plunged to 2.9 degrees Celsius, whereas the maximum was 13.6 degrees.

Kalpa, some 250 km from Shimla, and Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district recorded the night temperature at minus 3.8 degrees and minus 9.4 degrees, respectively.

Kalpa experienced 6 cm of snow, while Dalhousie had 15 mm of rain.

The Met Office has forecast mild snow and rain in some areas till Sunday.-Agency
