VVIP chopper case: Court allows former IAF chief Tyagi to travel abroad

New Delhi, Dec 24 (IANS) A court here on Monday allowed former Indian Air Force chief S.P. Tyagi and his cousin Sanjeev Tyagi to travel abroad next year.Special Central Bureau of Investigation Judge Arvind Kumar allowed Tyagi's plea to go to the US and Canada in the month of March and April next year.The court also allowed Sanjeev Tyagi to travel to Switzerland in January 2019.The Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the CBI had filed charge sheets in bribery cases in Delhi courts.In its charge sheet, the CBI had named former Indian Air Force chief S.P. Tyagi, his cousin Sanjeev Tyagi alias Julie, the then IAF Vice Chief J.S. Gujral and advocate Gautam Khaitan as the four Indians involved in the Rs 3,600-crore AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal case.Others named in the charge sheet included Giuseppe Orsi, former chief of Italian defence and aerospace major Finmeccanica, and Bruno Spagnolini, former CEO of AgustaWestland, apart from middlemen Christian Michel Carlo Gerosa and Guido Haschke.
