BSF recovers 5 kg heroin in Punjab

Chandigarh:The BSF has recovered five kg of heroin from the tyre of a bullock cart near the India-Pakistan border in Punjab's Ferozepur sector, an official said on Saturday.
BSF Inspector General, Punjab Frontier, Mukul Goel said the seizure was made near the BoP yesterday.
Based on specific information, a search operation was carried out during which five packets of the contraband wrapped in plastic cover were recovered from the fields, he said.
The top official said BSF has intensified vigil along the border in view of its vulnerability due to ongoing cultivation and tilling season and heightened activities of smugglers and anti-national elements.
The border guarding force has been extra alert to effectively check activities of anti-national elements on Punjab border with Pakistan, the IG added. IANS
