Lakhtakia to get additional charge of CRPF DG

New Delhi Feb 28 (IANS) Sudeep Lakhtakia the Additional Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is likely to take additional charge as Director General from Wednesday an official said on Tuesday.

This follows the retirement of K. Durga Prasad as the CRPF Director General. The Home Ministry said Lakhtakia will hold the additional charge till a successor to Prasad is named.

A 1981-batch Telangana cadre IPS officer Prasad retired on Tuesday from India s largest paramilitary force. He had held the post since February 2 2016.

Lakhtakia a 1984-batch IPS officer joined the CRPF in June 2016. He was earlier an Inspector General of the elite Special Protection Group for about eight years.
