Navy MiG-29K diverted to Mangaluru after technical glitch

Mangalore Feb 28 (IANS) A carrier-borne MiG 29K multi-role fighter aircraft of the Indian Navy was on Tuesday diverted to Karnataka s Mangaluru after developing a technical snag and had a tire burst while landing Navy officials said.

The aircraft a naval version of MiG-29 fighter had taken off from an aircraft carrier at sea for a routine sortie when it was diverted after following a hydraulic emergency an Indian Navy official said.

During the landing the aircraft experienced a tire burst and blocked the runway. However officials said a recovery team had attended it on the site and cleared it off the runway expeditiously a Navy spokesperson said.
