Court summons Kejriwal in defamation case
New Delhi March 6 (IANS) A court here on Monday issued summons to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on a defamation petition filed by Rajya Sabha MP and Essel Group Chairman Subhash Chandra.
Metropolitan Magistrate Snigdha Sarvaria asked Kejriwal to appear before the court on July 29.
Chandra sought Kejriwal s prosecution for allegedly defaming him by levelling false allegations in the wake of demonetisation of high-value currency notes.
The Aam Aadmi Party leader had allegedly mentioned Chandra s name while referring to those who had amassed black money.
Chandra said in his petition that Kejriwal had made false fabricated and defamatory allegations against him while addressing a press conference on November 11.
Chandra sought Kejriwal s prosecution under Section 500 (defamation) of the Indian Penal Code.
