Acid tank bursts in MP ordnance factory

Hoshangabad (Madhya Pradesh) March 24 (IANS) An acid tank burst on Friday in an ordnance factory in Itarsi in Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh. However no injuries were reported.

After conducting an on-site inspection Sub-Divisional Officer-Police Anil Sharma told IANS: Various arms and ammunition as well as missiles used by the defence forces are manufactured here. During the recycling process in the manufacturing unit the acid tank burst.

The employees on duty immediately brought the situation under control he said adding that no one was injured in the incident.

Stressing that the incident occurred due to technical reasons he ruled out the possibility of foul play either by an insider or an outsider.

Adequate security arrangements are in place in the factory. In fact there is a two-layer security system. The incident took place due to technical reasons Sharma said.
