Landmines recovered in Jharkhand

Ranchi April 3 (IANS) Several landmines planted by the Maoist guerrillas in Jharkhand s Lohardagga district on Monday were recovered by the state police officials said.

A search operation was launched based on the information regarding the presence of Maoist guerrillas in Bondowar and Lawapani jungle of Lohardagga district according to a police official.

The Maoist guerrillas managed to escape but the joint team of police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) recovered the landmines.

Six pressure-cooker bombs each weighing 3 kg five claymore mines each weighing 1 kg 500 metres of wire length were also recovered among other things.

The landmines were planted to detonate police vehicles the police said.
