Bengal woman arrested for trying to abduct toddler
Kolkata April 7 (IANS) A woman was arrested on Friday for trying to abduct a toddler in West Bengal s Howrah district police said.
Mumtaz Begam was arrested after thorough interrogation for trying to abduct the two-and-a-half-year-old baby girl from Andul area on Friday morning a police official said.
The accused tried to flee in a bus with the toddler but the locals stopped her.
Some locals suspected the woman to be a stranger to the kid as they heard the baby girl crying. On questioning she initially claimed to be the aunt but failed to show any proof the official added.
