Tension in Ranchi over objectionable song
Ranchi April 11 (IANS) Tension prevailed in Ranchi on Tuesday after members of two communities clashed over an objectionable song .
According to police the songs were being played on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti in the Main Road area. The members of a community objected to the songs which led to a minor scuffle between the two communities.
Police rushed to the spot and tried to control the situation.
Hundreds of people of a community continued the protest by blocking roads. Police used tear gas shells and resorted to cane-charge to disperse the mob.
By evening the situation was under control but tense. Shops were closed in Main Road area -- the business hub of the city.
