BJP announces Meghalaya Mission 40

Shillong April 13 (IANS) Buoyed by the party s success in Manipur and Assam the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday announced its ambitious Mission 40 for the elections to the Meghalaya Assembly.

Under Mission 40 the BJP is targeting to win 40 seats in the 60-member Meghalaya assembly in the 2018 elections scheduled to be held in February-March next year.

However the BJP ruled out the possibility of projecting any state leader as the party s chief ministerial candidate.

We want to win in at least 40 constituencies in Meghalaya. This is our mission BJP Lok Sabha member Laxman Giluwa told journalists.

He said that the party workers are working hard to accomplish its Mission 40.

Giluwa who is also the Jharkhand BJP president said that the party would make all efforts to dislodge the ruling Congress government as part of its larger design of a Congress-Free India.

Our mission is to make India a Congress-free country and we are moving forward with it and in the future this dream will become a reality he said.

Neither ruling out the possibility of stitching a pre-poll or post-poll alliance with the regional parties Giluwa was confident that the BJP along with regional parties would form the new government in Meghalaya.
