Barkha Singh joins BJP (Lead)
New Delhi April 22 (IANS) A day after she was expelled from the Congress Barkha Shukla Singh joined the BJP on Saturday.
Singh a former Chief of the Delhi Commission for Women joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in presence of its national Vice President and Delhi in-charge Shyam Jaju on Saturday afternoon. Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs Vijay Goel was also present.
I have joined BJP to work on ground Singh told IANS.
Appreciating the work being done by the BJP government she said: BJP is doing good work. It is doing what the Congress use to do earlier.
Ideology of Congress is dead... when I was the chairperson of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) I use to meet Muslim women who were suffering due to Triple Talaq. When I questioned Triple Talaq my party (Congress) asked me to leave this issue. (Prime Minister Narendra) Modiji is working on it.
I wrote a letter to Modi on this issue after he became the Prime Minister she added.
Singh was expelled from the Congress on Friday for anti-party activities.
On Thursday she resigned from all party posts including as chief of the Delhi unit s womens wing raising questions over the leadership of Vice President Rahul Gandhi who she termed unfit to lead the party and Delhi unit chief Ajay Maken.
