One killed as SUV runs amok in Hyderabad
Hyderabad May 13 (IANS) One person was killed and four others injured when a SUV ran amok in the busy Madhapur area here Saturday evening police said.
The vehicle being driven at a high speed by a person who was allegedly drunk hit two cars and four wheelers before coming to a halt.
Police said a person lost his life and four others were injured. They were taken to a hospital.
The accident occurred on Ayappa Society road in Madhapur a busy area in the information technology hub.
People thrashed the man who was driving the vehicle under alleged influence of alcohol before handing him over to police.
A police officer said Basant who was driving the vehicle was working as assistant manager in Krishnapatnam Port.
This was the second accident in a day in Hyderabad. Earlier two cars collided in posh Jubliee Hills area. There were no casualties but both vehicles were badly damaged. A person who was driving one of the cars was found drunk.
The same area had witnessed a car crash on May 10 killing son of a cabinet minister of Andhra Pradesh and his friend.
Saturday s accidents occurred a day after three graduates of IIT Kharagpur were killed when the car they were travelling in overturned on Outer Ring Road on city outskirts.
