Srinagar May 23 (IANS) The FIR lodged against an army major for using a Kashmiri youth as a human shield against stone pelters has not been quashed and the investigations will continue a police officer said on Tuesday.

Muneer Khan Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir zone said: The FIR stands and investigations into the case will continue.

An army major tied a youth to the front of a jeep to avoid attacks by stone pelters in central Kashmir s Budgam district on April 9.

After widespread condemnations the police filed an FIR against the major for his action.

However the major had been awarded a Chief Of Army Staff (COAS) commendation card for the good work he has been doing.
