New Delhi May 29 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs one lakh to the next of the kin of Delhi e-rickshaw driver beaten to death for espousing the social cause of Swachha Bharat an official statement said.

The Prime Minister who is on a four nation tour sanctioned the money from the Prime Minister s National Relief fund to the next of kin of the E-rickshaw driver Ravindra Kumar who was beaten to death for stopping two people from urinating in the public in Delhi.

Modi also condemned the incident and directed the authorities to bring to book and punish the culprits for committing such inhuman act it said.

Earlier in the day Urban Development and Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu visited the family of the e-rickshaw driver at GTB Nagar and handed over a cheque of Rs 50 000 from his salary to the family. Terming the act as condemnable Naidu said that the culprits must be punished.

Ravinder Kumar 32 was lynched by a group of 15 youths including two allegedly from Delhi University on Saturday evening after he objected to two of them urinating near a metro station in north Delhi. No one came forward to help the man as the youths rained blows on him using towels filled with stones police said on Sunday.
