Militant killed near LoC
Srinagar June 7 (IANS) A militant was killed during an ongoing operation near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir s Kupwara district police said.
The operation took place in Machil sector of the LoC said a police officer here.
The operation ensued after personnel of the counter-insurgency Rashtriya Rifles started an operation in Sardari Nad forests near the LoC on information about presence of militants there.
Hiding militants opened fire at the surrounding troops triggering a gunfight in which one militant has been killed said the officer adding that the operation was still on in the densely forested area.
