Tax evasion in donations to political parties: I-T raids over dozen places

New Delhi, Sep 7 (IANS) The Income Tax Department on Wednesday was conducting raids across the nation at over two dozen places belonging to those people who collected donations for political parties and were allegedly involved in tax evasion.The source has said that the raids were being conducted at Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.The sources also said that tax evasions of crores of rupees in the guise of donations to the political parties have been detected."This is basically fraud cum tax evasion which was done in the name of donations to the political parties," the source said.The raids started early this morning and were currently going on.Further details awaited.
