Will urge LG to give ownership rights to gram sabha land allottees: Kejriwal

New Delhi June 28 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said that he along with all party MLAs will approach Lt. Governor Anil Baijal and request him to give ownership right to the people allotted plots of gram sabha land under the Centre s 20-point programme.

Kejriwal was speaking in the state assembly during a discussion on the resolution demanding ownership rights for those who were allotted small plots of gram sabha land around 40 years back.

The resolution moved by Delhi Law Minister Kailash Gahlot was passed by the assembly.

He added that thousands of families were facing hardship as they had not yet been given the ownership while small plots of gram sabha land were allotted to them in the 1970s and early 80s.

In several states ownership rights have been given to those who were allotted such plots but in Delhi they have not got ownership rights so far. These allottees are not begging they are demanding their rights Kejriwal said.

Kejriwal added that the Lt. Governor has the authority to take a decision on land-related matters.

I and all MLAs will seek an appointment with the LG and request him to provide his nod to this demand. We will also meet Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu in this connection Kejriwal said.

During the discussion the Chief Minister also took a dig at the newly-elected member of the assembly BJP s Manjinder Singh Sirsa and called him natkhat bachcha (naughty child).

To this Sirsa started protesting and Speaker Ram Niwas Goel had Sirsa marshalled out when he continued his vociferous protest.
