Demonstrators demanding Manav Suraksha Kanoon detained

New Delhi July 12 (IANS) Around 100-120 people holding a peaceful demonstration in the national capital to press their demand for a Manav Suraksha Kanoon (Masuka) or a law to protect people from mob lynchings were detained on Wednesday.
The demonstrators a motley group of lawyers doctors civil society activists journalists and students of the Jamia Millia Islamia had gathered at Vijay Chowk here.
According to a demonstrator as soon as they gathered at Vijay Chowk they were detained by the city police.
"It was a peaceful demonstration yet police detained us. Two women journalists were also manhandled " said a demonstrator.
