Gandhi files nomination for Vice President
New Delhi July 18 (IANS) Opposition candidate Gopalkrishna Gandhi on Tuesday filed his nomination papers for the Vice Presidential election.
Gandhi a former West Bengal Governor and Mahatma Gandhi s grandson is pitched against NDA candidate M. Venkaiah Naidu.
Gandhi s name was proposed by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Congress President Sonia Gandhi and CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechuri.
Last week 18 opposition parties including the Congress Trinamool Congress Rashtriya Janata Dal Nationalist Congress Party DMK and the Left declared Gandhi their candidate for the August 5 Vice Presidential battle.
