Bengal teacher murders wife, arrested

Kolkata July 22 (IANS) A teacher in West Bengal s East Burdwan district who hired hitmen to murder his wife but then went and committed the crime himself has been arrested police said on Saturday.

The accused asked the hired killers to dispose of the body police said.

"Ujjawal Bhaskar Ghosh 40 was arrested for killing his wife Mahua Ghosh. He hired three criminals for the murder but himself committed the crime. During interrogation he admitted the crime " said Katwa Police Station s officer-in-charge Sanjiv Ghosh.

Ghosh has given information about hired killers and a search is on for them he added.

According to police the body of Mahua Ghosh was found at the Panughat area of the distict on Wednesday but was not identified.

"Later on Friday it was brought to our notice that Ghosh s wife was missing for couple of days and the accused did not file any missing complaint. Accordingly we detained and interrogated him " the police officer said.
