Man stabs wife to death in Delhi, held (Lead)
New Delhi Aug 1 (IANS) The man who fatally stabbed his wife near Thyagaraj Stadium in south Delhi on Monday evening over her suspected extra-marital affair has been arrested the police said on Tuesday.
Santoshi was stabbed at least five times outside the Thyagaraj Stadium around 6 p.m. on Monday and was declared brought dead at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences Trauma Centre according to the police.
Police seized a blood-stained knife from the crime spot and arrested her husband Vinod from Mundka area of west Delhi on Tuesday morning.
Santoshi 40 a mother of six married Vinod 34 a year ago since her first husband had died a couple of years back Deputy Commissioner of Police Ishwar Singh said. Initially the police said she had five children.
"During interrogation Vinod claimed he saw his wife in a compromising situation with an unidentified person and killed her " the DCP said.
On Monday evening Vinod took Santoshi to the INA Market in south Delhi and bought a knife.
"After the couple consumed liquor together he took her near Gate number 1 of Thyagaraj Stadium and stabbed her multiple times. After confirming that she was dead he threw the knife at the spot and fled to his cousin s house in Mundka " the DCP said.
The police said Vinod a school dropout and unemployed is a resident of Kotla Mubarakpur in south Delhi.
