Jaitley to oversee Gujarat assembly polls, Javadekar Karnataka

New Delhi Aug 24 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday appointed Finance Minister Arun Jaitley the incharge of Gujarat for the coming assembly elections.

Besides Union Ministers Narendra Singh Tomar Nirmala Sitharaman and P.P. Chaudhary have been made co-incharges to assist Jaitley in the crucial elections the party announced.

Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar has been given the charge of Karnataka assembly elections with Power Minister Piyush Goyal as his deputy.

The party also announced the appointment of Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot as the incharge of Himachal Pradesh assembly elections.

The assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh are likely to be held later this year or early next year.
