Complete Durga idol immersion by October 1

Ranchi Sep 13 (IANS) The district administration here has asked the Durga Puja organisers to complete the idol immersion by October 1 so that Muharram procession could be taken out on October 3.

The district administration has issued guidelines for constructing marquees saying disputed places should be avoided.

A consensus has been evolved to complete the idol immersion on October 1 Mahaveer Mandal President Rajeev Ranjan told IANS.

"We have formed the coordination committee of Mahaveer Mandal and Muharram committee to conduct peaceful celebration of Durga Puja and Muharram " he added.

The opposition parties in the state have taken a dig at the BJP government for compelling the idol immersions to be completed on October 1.
