The police acted to clear the busy Vidhan Sabha Road and the Raj Bhavan area of the protesters. However over a dozen women protesters gave police the slip and barged into state Bharatiya Janata Party headquarters here.

The protesting anganwadi workers also tried to move towards Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath s official residence at 5 Kalidas Marg but were prevented by police.

They squatted on the road and raised anti-government and anti-BJP slogans.

Their demands include regularisation of about 5 000 anganwadi workers a hike in wages and bringing them at par with state government employees.
