Pochettino tags Harry Kane as world-class

London Dec 27 (IANS) Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino has tagged his star striker Harry Kane as world-class after his side defeated Southampton 5-2 in an English Premier League (EPL) tie.

Kane who scored a hat-trick in the match on Tuesday also registered a record 39 EPL goals in a calendar year eclipsing Alan Shearer s record from 1995.

The English international who has scored 56 goals for his club and country combined during the current calendar year also became the leading scorer in Europe ahead of football superstar Lionel Messi.

"Harry is world-class " the Argentine was quoted as saying by The Guardian on Tuesday.

"Of course Messi and Cristiano are different. Today -- one striker in the world a specific position -- who is better than Harry? It s difficult to say he s the best but he s shown to everyone he s one of the best.

"Both of his records are massive -- to break the Premier League record set by Alan Shearer and then if you see that over the last seven eight or nine years it s always Messi and Cristiano and now it s Harry as well " Pochettino added.
