Saint-Etienne sign defender Mitrovic from Gent

Paris Jan 5 (IANS) Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne on Friday reached an agreement with Belgian football club Gent on the transfer of Serbian defender Stefan Mitrovic.

"Gent and Saint-Etienne have signed an agreement for the transfer of the Serbian international " read a statement on the French club s website without specifying transfer fee or duration of contract of the player.

Mitrovic was set to arrive in his new club on Friday for medical examination prior to official signature reports Xinhua news agency.

Mitrovic 27 played in his third season for Gent. He has capped 15 times for Serbia including Euro 2016 qualifiers.

Mitrovic was Saint-Etienne s second recruit in winter transfer window following striker Robert Beric s return from another Belgian club Anderlecht.
