Nice defender Souquet sidelined due to foot injury

Paris Jan 9 (IANS) Nice right back Arnaud Souquet was expected to be sidelined for two to three months following his early exit in French Cup the Ligue 1 club announced.

Souquet was forced to leave the pitch in the 76th minute of last Saturday s French Cup match against Toulouse reports Xinhua news agency.

"This was confirmed on Monday: Arnaud Souquet suffered a fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his left foot. The team s most used player in the first half of the season will now be unavailable for a period of between two and three months " Nice said in a statement on Monday.

Souquet 25 played 18 league matches for Nice this season. He will undergo surgery on Tuesday.

"The team wish a prompt recovery to the full-back and have no doubts that he will come back even stronger in the spring " the club added.

Nice currently ranked sixth in Ligue 1 will host Monaco in French League Cup quarterfinals on Tuesday.
