Cyclists Aleena, Deborah exit Keirin repechage qualifiers

Gold Coast (Australia) April 8 (IANS) Indian cyclists Aleena Reji and Deborah Herold crashed out of women s Keirin first round repechage qualifiers at the 21st Commonwealth Games here on Sunday.

Aleena finished fourth in repechage Heat 1 after consuming 0.732 seconds more than England s Lauren Bate who topped the heat and qualified for the second round.

Deborah too had a poor outing finishing at the penultimate spot in repechage Heat 2. She found herself to be 0.221 seconds more than the topper New Zealand s Olivia Podmore.

Earlier Aleena posted time of 17.12700 in 200 metre to stand fifth in Heat 1 5.773 seconds adrift of the quickest cyclist Natasha Hansen.

In Heat 2 Deborah registered a time of 11.801 seconds to stand fourth 0.451 seconds behind the quickest cyclist Stephanie Morton.
