Carreno Busta reaches quarters, Tsitsipas defeats Anderson

Lisbon May 4 (IANS) Spain s World No. 11 tennis player Pablo Carreno Busta stormed into the Estoril Open quarterfinals beating Argentine Nicolas Kicker while the tournament s top seed South African Kevin Anderson lost to the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Carreno who won last year s Estoril Open beat Kicker in two sets 6-1 and 7-5 in a game that lasted an hour and a half here on Thursday reports Efe.

Tsitsipas surprised the court as he crushed Anderson in three sets 6-7 (3) 6-3 and 6-3 in two hours and 15 minutes.

Tsitsipas will face Spaniard Roberto Carballes in the quarterfinals who moved on to the next round after beating Briton Cameron Norrie 5-7 6-2 7-6 (1).

Carreno on Saturday will confront Chilean Nicolas Jarry who won against Spaniard Ricardo Ojeda 6-3 and 7 (8) -6 (6).
