Ukraine ready to host UEFA Champions League finals

Kiev May 4 (IANS) Ukraine is fully prepared to host the UEFA Champions League finals here later this month the Ukrainian presidential press service said in a statement.

"Ukraine has carried out careful preparations and has taken a number of steps to create favourable conditions for hosting these games " Igor Rainin the head of the Ukrainian organising committee was quoted as saying in the statement on Thursday reports Xinhua news agency.

Apart from the technical preparations the Ukrainian parliament has finalised the adoption of the needed legislation to exempt from taxes goods imported by the UEFA to Ukraine Rainin said.

On May 26 the Olympic stadium in Kiev will host the 2018 UEFA Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool.

Besides on May 24 the UEFA Women s Champions League final between Germany s Wolfsburg and France s Lyon will take place at the Dynamo stadium in the Ukrainian capital.

The Ukrainian authorities said earlier that more than 60 000 foreign fans will visit Kiev for the events.
