Ethiopian, Kenyan runners win Changchun International Marathon

Changchun May 27 (IANS) Runners from Ethiopia and Kenya swept the titles in the men s and women s events at the Changchun International Marathon here on Sunday while Chinese runners finished strong in both categories.
In the men s full marathon race Tulu Feleke Darsema from Ethiopia claimed the title in 2 hours 28 minutes and 1 second. Kenyan athlete Lagatt Elijah Kiptoo finished second in 2:28:24. The third place went to Chinese runner Wan Ma who finished the race in 2:29:14 reports Xinhua news agency.
In the women s category Kenyan runners Bor Viola Chepleting and Kirop Helena Loshanyang snatched the top two seats in 2:44:53 and 2:46:27 respectively. Chinese athlete Jiao Anjing finished third in 2:47:25.
Sunday s race saw 30 000 runners from across the world brave rains on the streets of Changchun capital of northeast China s Jilin province.
The first Changchun International Marathon was held in May 2017.
