Varane to captain France against Denmark
Moscow June 25 (IANS) France defender Raphael Varane is to wear the captain s arm band during his national team s upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup match against Denmark saying on Monday it was an honour to do so.
The 25-year-old Real Madrid player is to replace goalkeeper Hugo Lloris who will not start in Tuesday s game reports Efe.
"It is a sign the coach (Didier Deschamps) is confident in me. It is a responsibility that I have already taken other times with the same pride " Varane said during a press conference.
France currently leads Group C with six points after beating Australia 2-1 and Peru 1-0 while Denmark holds the second spot with four points.
