Asish stuns top seed Puneet to enter final of tennis meet

Kolkata July 5 (IANS) A dream run for local wild card Asish Sen continued as he brushed top seed Puneet Kumar Gupta aside to enter the final of the men s singles at the Calcutta South Club Senior ITF Tennis Championship at the red clay courts of the Calcutta South Club on Thursday.
Sen down 0-3 in the opening set came back strong to win it by a close 6-4.
In the second set he faltered at the crucial stages and dropped it with an identical score of 4-6.
In the decider top seed Gupta took the marathon to a 5-5 before exiting the championship by a 4-6 6-4 5-7 loss. Sen will play Sharad Tak another unseeded participant in the draw in the final on Saturday.
In both Men s Singles 35 and 45 the top seeds sailed through to the finals doing justice to their billing.
Former National champion Nitten Kirrtane whitewashed 4th seeded Narendra Choudhary by 6-0 6-2 in men s singles semi-final whereas Jagdish Tanwer got the better of third seed Hatinder Panwer by a similar score of 6-0 6-2 in the men s singles category.
